Update on X’s Communities Feature

There is an update on X’s Communities Feature as X is enhancing its Communities feature with new filters, sorting options, and easier viewing of your posts.

Like Reddit, communities allow X users to connect and engage in topic-based discussions. Now, popular Communities are easily accessible at the top of the app’s homepage, alongside your For You feed and other Lists. You can customize these timelines by selecting options like Trending, New, or Popular, or filter them to display only your posts and replies within a Community.

When sorting by popularity, you can now choose to view popular posts from the last day, week, month, year, or all-time—options that are similar to those found on Reddit. Previously, you could only sort Community posts by Trending, Most Recent, and Most Liked, which didn’t offer as much detail as the new time-based sorting.

Additionally, the previous version didn’t allow users to quickly find their own posts and replies, but this has now been added.

These updates are currently available for users of the updated iOS app, according to a post from an X engineer about the new Communities feature. The company is also working on bringing these enhancements to the web and Android platforms.

This update is part of X’s broader initiative to improve Communities and make the platform more appealing for focused discussions. Last month, X integrated Community posts more deeply into the platform by allowing followers to see a user’s Community posts and replies. To encourage participation, X also enabled anyone to reply to Community posts.

The goal of X Communities goes beyond attracting more users; they may also assist the company in its AI initiatives by creating discussion boards that provide valuable data for companies training their AI models, as well as supporting training efforts at Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI.
