French AI startup Mistral AI is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), as confirmed by co-founder and CEO Arthur Mensch in a Bloomberg interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Mensch emphasized that Mistral is “not for sale” and revealed plans to establish a Singapore office to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region while expanding operations in Europe and the U.S.
Founded in 2023 by Mensch and ex-researchers from Google DeepMind and Meta, Mistral is often dubbed Europe’s challenger to U.S. AI giants like OpenAI. The company offers innovative AI models and services, including a ChatGPT competitor known as Le Chat.
Backed by investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mistral has secured approximately $1.14 billion in funding and boasts a valuation of around $6 billion.
European AI leader Mistral AI has no intentions of selling, instead focusing on preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), as confirmed by CEO Arthur Mensch. Speaking on Bloomberg TV during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Mensch stated, “Of course, that’s the plan,” when asked about the company’s IPO ambitions.
Mistral is also expanding its global footprint by opening a new office in Singapore to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The French AI startup continues to grow rapidly across Europe and the U.S., cementing its position as a key player in the AI industry.
