As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Growth Pod, you will build and maintain critical backend systems that drive Superhuman’s revenue growth initiatives. You will collaborate with marketing, sales, and product teams to ship high-quality code at a fast pace. Working with technologies like Go, PostgreSQL, CloudFlare, and Kubernetes, you’ll own full-fledged architectures for payment processing, monetization features, and scheduled jobs.
Responsibilities in this Role
- Design, develop, and scale backend systems that serve millions of users.
- Power amazing user experiences by building new features and improving existing ones.
- Evaluate and refine solutions to deliver a highly performant and exceptionally reliable backend system.
- Become an expert in backend development and expand your development across the stack and to various platforms.
- Collaborate across-teams to define how our systems should evolve.
- Support code quality, new technologies, and architectural design within the company.
- Uphold and advance the security and reliability of Superhuman’s systems.
- Technologies we use: Go, Postgres, Redis, Kubernetes, Google Cloud.
Qualifications/Qualities
- Experience: You have 3+ years of backend development experience and 5+ years of software development experience.
- Payment systems expert: You have experience with payment processing systems, particularly Stripe, including handling subscriptions, refunds, and payment analytics.
- Data driven: You’re proficient in implementing and analyzing telemetry data, working with analytics teams to derive insights from user behavior and feature adoption.
- Feature flag manager: You’re familiar with feature flag systems like LaunchDarkly to support A/B testing and controlled feature rollouts
- Detective: You have a deep desire to understand how things work in great detail, to guide you in designing systems, and debugging that arise.
- Problem solver: You excel at understanding and solving complex problems. You have astonishing attention to detail.
- Quality focused: You take pride in building elegant and beautiful things.
- Learning: You’re open to the best tool for the job. You are excited to learn new technologies.
- Technical communicator: You can break down tricky topics in writing and in person.
