About the Job: 

  • Provide high quality nursing care to patients attending the department with a focus on pediatrics
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in evidence based care and ensure continuity of the quality of care.
  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their relatives/carers.
  • Act in accordance to legal and statutory guidance and comply with the Health Boards policies.
  • When competent, to be able to utilise the skills of venepuncture, cannulation, IV medication administration, triage and apply emergency plaster casts.
  • To respond safely to an emergency and escalate any concerns.
  • To support the department in ensuring the environment meets the required standard of cleanliness and all equipment is maintained in good working order.
  • Be responsible for the support of junior colleagues.
  • To demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • To act as an advocate when representing the patients.
  • To have the ability to work as part of a large team, use delegation skills and prioritise care.
  • Participate in health promotion.o To support the nurse in charge with care and decision making.
  • To ensure all statutory and mandatory training is in date.
  • Be responsible for administrating medications to patients.
  • To ensure PPE is worn correctly in line with infection control guidelines.
