About the Job:
The main duties of a healthcare support worker are: –
- Assist with admitting patients to the ward and the care of their relatives
- To carry out assigned patient care duties as directed by registered health professional without direct supervision. Examples of these (but not conclusive list) may be measuring height, weight, taking temperature, pulse, respirations, sa02, manual and electronic BP, Urinalysis, assisting with feeding.
- Carry out delegated nursing care relevant to the area
- Provide safe and effective care
- Identifies areas for improvement
- Assist patients with attending to the activities of daily living and support the therapy team with the rehabilitation of the patient.
- Assist patients to sit up or out for breakfast.
- Serve and prepare meals/breakfast and drinks, help to assist patients when required. Complete appropriate paperwork i.e food diaries and fluid balance charts.
- Assist patients with morning personal care and dressing.
- Carry out patient weekly assessments which involve weighing, clean and check mattress, catheter bag change when required.
- Assist patients with toileting.
- Assist to support patients to bed, attach catheter night bags when required.
- Comply with policies and procedures of the ward.
- Assist teams with administrative duties and communication with patients regarding appointments and changes to their care.
