About the Job: 

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work alongside our friendly, established team of staff in Wymondham, Norfolk.

You will work alongside a team of other Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and HCAs supported by a team of GPs, Physician Associates, Paramedic and non-clinical practice staff.

Main duties of the job

Experience in phlebotomy, wound care, health checks and health promotion, B12 injections and basic vaccinations would be an advantage.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Responsibility: Primarily to Nurse Manager but ultimately to all partners within the practice.

Aim of the role:

To work as a professionally accountable team member within the nursing department and to assist the nurses in the provision of health care provided to the patients of Wymondham Medical practice.

To ensure that the care delivered to the practice population is relevant, of a high standard and is clinically effective.

To undertake specific tasks and have responsibilities to facilitate the smooth functioning of the department.

Clinical Role Overview

1. Assist in the delivery of high standard of care to patients in conjunction with practice policy and protocols.

2. Promote patient equality and dignity at all times.

3. Promote effective communication skills between reception staff, nurses and doctors.

4. To remember that professional standards and confidentiality should be maintained at all times.

5. To keep accurate records of all patient attendance and telephone encounters using System One Computer System.

6. To carry out dressings following completion of wound care course.

7. To carry out NHS health checks, Mental health physical checks and Hypertension reviews following suitable training.

8. To carry out ECGs as requested.

9. Give B12 injections, Influenza and shingles vaccines following suitable training.

10. To carry out the duties of a Phlebotomist using appropriate PPE as and when required.

11. To carry out INR clinics using appropriate PPE as and when required.

12. Comply with Infection Control Policy in regard to Sharps Safe equipment including Sharps bins.

13. To organise and document specimens as required.

14. Have Level 3 Training in Safeguarding Children.

15. Participate in the extended hours rota.
