About the Job:
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our practice team to undertake all aspects of Health Care Assistant role.
Main duties of the job
The HCA role is to assist our GP’s and Nurses in the delivery of care for our patients. Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be confined to: –
- New patient health checks and NHS Health Checks.
- Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples.
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate. Calculate weight and height measurements, calculate BMI and blood sugar levels, recording findings accurately onto our clinical system.
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring.
- Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required.
- Chaperoning duties
- Flu vaccinations, B12, Shingles, pneumonia vaccines etc under PSD.
- Carry out ECGs as requested.
- Carry out spirometry testing.
- Ensure all clinicals rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
- Ensure fridges are routinely cleaned in accordance with guidance.
- Twice daily fridge temperature monitoring.
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the IPC policy.
- Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing.
- Infection Control procedures are adhered to.
- Complete administrative duties as required.
- Ensure clinical waste collections run smoothly, reporting any problems to the nursing team.

Our practice team is committed to providing a high standard of clinical care and an excellent service to patients. We have a strong multidisciplinary team comprising of two GPs, Practice Nurse, Clinical Pharmacist, HCA and Counsellor. We also have an experienced medical support team of administrators.
