As a Clinic Healthcare assistant your responsibility is to ensure that children, young people and their families have a positive experience. You will need to be able to work to tight deadlines and have a flexible approach to work.You will do this by:Preparing clinic rooms and patients notes for forthcoming clinicsPreparing patients to be seen by the doctor or nurse by undertaking measurements, obtainingspecimens and recording vital signsUsing excellent communication skills with a variety of people such as the children, young people and their families, and multidisciplinary team colleagues.Preparing children/young people for and undertaking venepuncture

Main duties of the job

  • To work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team, helping registered nurses and other healthcare practitioners in the work associated with providing care to meet the health and well-being of the child/young people and their families
  • Work with the registered nurses to meet the daily living needs of children and young people
  • Provide comfort, reassurance and support to the child/young person and their families if anxious or distressed
  • Communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with the healthcare team, the child/young person and their family/carers/visitors.
  • Respond appropriately to queries, take phone messages and pass on written and verbal information to the healthcare team, the child/young person and their family/carers/visitors
  • Assist in maintaining a clean environment that is conducive to safe practice, cleaning patient equipment as required
  • Monitor and maintain the environment, equipment and resources
