About the Job: 

This post is temporary to provide maternity cover working within a general practice environment. We are looking to recruit an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our busy and friendly team.

You will work strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols under direct supervision of the GP’s and practice nursing team. You must be competent in phlebotomy and working with patients with long term conditions. You will support the clinical team in the provision of delivery of quality and health care services.

This is a part time position but flexible with hours/days worked

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must be competent in using SystmOne and be meticulous when documenting all patient contact using appropriate templates and read coding.

About us

We are a friendly, forward thinking, training practice with approximately 8000 patients. We have 2 GP partners, 2 Salaried GP’s, 2 Practice Nurses and Admin and Reception team. Our PCN also offers many other services including Extended Access, Physio, GPA and Social Prescribers.

  • Chronic Disease management
  • Administer Flu/Pneuomococcal Vaccines under PDS
  • Administer B12 injections under PSD
  • Stock control and ordering
  • Ensure clinical rooms adequately stocked
  • Fridge temperature recording
  • Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory/ contractual/ professional requirements and good practice guidelines.
  • Act as Chaperone
  • Undertake administrative duties when required when assisting with QoF
  • Processing of patient samples
  • Spillage control procedures
  • Effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience of working within a primary care environment/GP practice
  • Qualified in NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social care
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Good working knowledge of S1
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable

  • Working in a GP practice
