Job summary

Medical Day Unit (MDU) is a small and effective nurse led infusions unit, facilitating treatments for a variety of chronic medical specialities.

The service is expanding to meet the patient demand and isopen from 08:00-17:00, Monday to Saturdays.

The current team are friendly, organised and efficient, who excel in positive patient feedback.

Main duties of the job

Duties:

Venepuncture
Sampling bloods from Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD)
Cannulation
ECG recording
Blood sugar monitoring
Computer literate
Transportation of patients between wards and departments
Preparation of bed spaces/rooms
Be aware of own limitations and know to seek advice
Escalating concerns appropriately
Taking accountability for patient admission documentation- being supervised by a trained nursing colleague
Maintain a high standard of record keeping ensuring all entries are accurate and legible
Acknowledge difficulties with communication and provide support and seek help as required
Use resources effectively
