About the Job: 

 

Mulberry 2 is a 16 bed assessment and treatment ward. The ward strives to:

  • Promote relapse prevention and recovery alongside patients identified goals.
  • Promote therapeutic relationships based on mutual trust
  • Enable service users to realise potential and maximise the opportunity for recovery
  • Empower people to use choice, maintain independence and an inclusive lifestyle
  • Care in a safe, secure, positive and supportive environment.

You may be required to undertake and successfully complete the new national Care Certificate within a 12 weeks’ timeframe if you meet our criteria. You will receive full training and support and The Care Certificate sets out 15 national care standards that must be achieved by all health and social care staff to demonstrate that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide safe and excellent quality of care. It is a foundation programme which can provide the first steps to career development within the NHS.

Main duties of the job

  • To work in support of qualified nurses and other health care professionals Carries out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of, and supervised by, a registered nurse/Occupational Therapist.
  • Will be involved in the delivery and coordination of ward activities.
  • Will work a 24 hour rotational shift pattern
  • The job includes listening and talking to patients/relatives/carers, observing patients behaviour, providing close observation to ensure patient safety (one to one), encouraging them with eating, drinking, personal hygiene. Involving them in diversional activities, escorting patients out of the unit, dealing with anger (explanations, negotiation and de-escalation), assisting in the management of violent episodes, helping in the administration of medication.
