Job Summary:

We are a friendly GP surgery looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and organised applicant to join our team as a part time Health Care Assistant.

The main roles of the Health Care Assistant will be undertaking clinical care tasks, clinical support tasks, restocking and stock rotation. The essential clinical care tasks include daily phlebotomy sessions and basic wound care.

The Practice is located 25 minutes from Cardiff and Swansea and is less than a mile from Junction 37 of the M4.

To commence as soon as possible

Main duties of the job

RESPONSIBLE TO

The HCA is responsible in the first instance to the Lead Practice Nurse and then to the Partner for all clinical matters. The HCA is responsible to the Practice Manager for administrative and employment matters.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the post is to support the nurse and doctor teams by undertaking patient care tasks, clinical support tasks, infection control tasks, restocking and stock rotation.

SCOPE OF THE JOB

The HCA will perform tasks prescribed and delegated by the clinical team, working to agreed protocols and within defined competencies.

About us

We are a friendly GP practice consisting of 6 partners, 1 full-time nurse, 1 part time HCA and supported by an experienced admin team. There are approximetely 9000 patient registered here.

We work closely together to ensure a smooth running of the surgery.

Desirable knowledge:- complex and simple wound care and Diabetic foot checks (training can be provided if needed).

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to perform phlebotomy essential – primary or secondary care experience acceptable

Desirable

  • Experience of working on the Vision system would be desirable but training can be provided.
  • Experience of working within a GP practice would be desirable.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Ability to perform phlebotomy with relevant qualification essential

Desirable

  • Simple and complex wound care skills,
  • Diabetic foot check skills
