Job responsibilities
Location: The successful candidate will be based at Pelican House in Bradford however there will be a requirement to work across all three New Vision Bradford sites when needed (Pelican House,Unity HouseandKeighley).Working hours: Monday-Friday 9:15am-5:15pmThe duties as a Healthcare Assistant will include the following:
- Contribute to service user care plans/triage assessments and or other service user reports.
- Undertake tasks and procedures, in which competency has been assessed/training hasbeen given which is specific to the care environment for example taking bloods,administering vaccinations/Pabrinex, carrying out basic health assessments andobservations, collection and handling of urine samples, disposal of waste materials, dealingwith blood and body fluid spillages.
- Working across different elements of service delivery for example outreach, needle andsyringe programmes.
- To offer harm reduction advice and information including overdose prevention, woundawareness, and naloxone.
- To carry out DBST, and referral for Hepatitis C treatment if required.
- To support and carry out, within own scope of competencies, fibroscans, ECG,venepuncture, and other intervention to support the health of service users.
- To carry out Healthcare Assessments for new and people already in services.
- To support alcohol assessments and alcohol community detoxifications.
- Use appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas in each clinical roomso that they are clean, safe and free from hazards reporting any potential risks identified.
- Record information and activities undertaken with service users in an accurate and timelymanner, maintaining confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Deal with requests from service users and clinical staff for health information leaflets andsign post appropriately.
- Participate in the audit process and promote service wide or local clinical audit. Implementfindings/changes where indicated.
- Work in accordance with all relevant legislation, best practice policies & procedures andguidelines both internal and external. This includes Humankinds clinical governancepolicy.

Experience
Essential
- An experienced Healthcare Assistant.
- Have experience takingbloods, perform ECGs and have experience completing healthcare assessments.
Qualifications
Essential
- Have a relevant qualification in Health and Social Care.
