Children and Families Division – Neurodevelopmental Services

Role:Neurodevelopmental Pathway Health Care Assistant

Location: Range of community settings

Hours: Full time / Part time / Flexible applications will be considered

We are delighted to be expanding our established team within our friendly and forward thinking Neurodevelopmental Pathway, which includes Autism (ASD) assessment and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Services.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed colleagues who will work closely with our Autism and ADHD teams to participate in safe and effective support for our Children, Young People and their families.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway Service, aimed at improving the care of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) across the city, both pre and post diagnosis.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in a child or young adult related subject or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of literacy / numeracy skills [GCSE or equivalent]

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and young people

Desirable

  • Community experience within a similar role

Skills/knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent IT skills/ability to navigate electronic health records.
  • Ability to manage own workload and know when to report concerns
  • Competent and confident in the importance of the safeguarding agenda

Personal qualities

Essential

  • Ability to engage effectively and compassionately with a wide age range of children, young people and their carers
  • Able to demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of individuals from diverse social and cultural groups
  • Able to demonstrate a passion for improving the health needs of Children with Neurodevelopmental conditions

  • Able and willingness to travel across the city
