Job description

Job responsibilities

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Provide a phlebotomy service.
  • Perform ECGs.
  • Working with the anticoagulation team to offer PoCT.
  • Take blood pressure measurements.
  • Perform urine dip tests.
  • Perform wound dressings including suture/staple removals.
  • Following a plan of care undertake complex wound care e.g. Leg ulcer care
  • Preform doppler tests.
  • Assist doctors with Minor Operations/IUD clinics
  • Provide general support to the practice nurse team.
  • Maintain a team approach to working by attendances at appropriate meetings.
  • Maintain and update skills by attending appropriate training events.
  • Enter all patient activity onto the patients electronic records.
  • Perform diabetic and other health checks.

Working Hours – There is a full-time position available or 2 part-time positions.

Location – It does advertise the role as being at Priory Medical Centre on Cornlands Road, however you could be at any of our sites across York.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven background as a Health Care Assistant (although not essential, it is desirable to have primary care experience).
  • Essential to have level 3 NVQ (or similar level of study) in healthcare.
  • Proven record of providing excellent support and service to colleagues and a wider team.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Competent in the use of PCs and IT.
  • Proven record of adhering to strict confidentiality polices.
  • Proven record of absolute discretion with regards to patients and colleagues.
  • Proven history of adapting to new ways of working, learning and adhering to policies and processes in your role.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and high standards.
  • Basic Awareness of Safeguarding Children training
  • Appropriate evidence of qualifications for any procedure and/or care the individual is asked to provide within the team and scope of their role.
