About the Job:
Main duties of the job
- Catheter Care
- Assist with the insertion, maintenance, and removal of urinary catheters as directed by nursing staff.
- Provide care to the surrounding skin, ensuring cleanliness and comfort for the patient.
- Educate patients and carers on catheter care, including hygiene practices and signs of infection.
- Support patients with self-care practices related to catheter management where appropriate.
- Venepuncture
- Perform venepuncture ensuring accurate blood sample collection
- Observe and record patient reactions during and after the procedure
- Medicine Management
- Assist patients with the administration of prescribed medications, including oral, topical, and subcutaneous as per the care plan.
- Support patients in understanding their medication regimen and offer encouragement for adherence.
- Record medication administration and ensure accurate documentation according to healthcare protocols.
- Acute and Complex Wound Management
- Assist with dressing, and assessment of acute and complex wounds
- Educate patients and carers on signs of infection, and the importance of following prescribed treatment plans.
- Support the management of pressure ulcers, or other complex wound conditions
- Maintain accurate records of wound assessments, treatment plans, and progress.
- Additional duties
- Assisting in the delivery of personalized care plans
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
