CEO’s are generally perceived as stiff and overbearing but largely beyond that, they are humans just like everyone else, whom in their quest to lead their companies the best way possible, embody certain traits which they deem necessary and pivotal in attaining the growth and success which they so desire to achieve excellence.
Who is a CEO?
One who conceives a corporate vision, establishes such and oversees it closely till the day of its termination is a Chief Executing Officer, CEO. Faced with several challenges during this process—emotional, financial, economical, health and to stability—he devises means and strategies to scale through comewhatmay, by various ways possible.
Overcoming Challenging Times
- Financial Constraint: Finances being the fuel for any startup can be a blessing when in abundance and a curse when out of reach. A CEO struggles to garner finances to meet the ever increasing needs/demands of his company. He builds financial capacity firm enough to weather any (financial) storm.
- Securing Investments/Investors: As funding is not a task he can solely achieve, a CEO approach substantial investors who see his company’s dreams with same/similar eyes as him, investors who see a future in his company. Having in mind that his proposals might either be accepted or blatantly rejected. He also has to make smart investments that would sustain the company’s financial stream long term and bear whatever risks this entails.
- Manpower: Since the CEO is not to carry all of the workload just by himself, there is the need for staff. Depending on their capabilities and how they embody the visions of the company, these staff, to a large extent, determine the success or failure of a company. The CEO then has to be an excellent judge of character/qualities as well a good groomer, even as he’s fully prepared for whatever the outcome may end up being.
- Economical Crisis: A CEO is always abreast of current economic trends, status and values. With inconsistency and varying state of the economy, he encounter some crises and/or loses along the line but shoulders them up so as to remain solidly in business. He challenges himself where he learns relevant tips and strategies in navigating economical crisis.
- Health Concerns: Then their is the health battles. Fostering a proper work-life balance can be lot for a CEO to handle, with the several other things he has to put in place. His health is forced to be in abandon with constant sleepless nights, skipped meals/diet/supplements and fitness practices/exercises. These in turn leads to burn-outs and breakdowns at intervals but guess what? He still has to be strong and show up, regardless!
The Ultimate Reward for CEO’s
CEO’s who successfully overcome all of these challenges daily are real-life superheroes and should be valued and celebrated for their strength, persistent, resilient at all levels in their various companies/organisations. That’s the most soothing reward they can get, to talk of the least amidst others which include: profitable partnerships and contracts/business deals, staff commitment/dedication to work, selflessness and valuable contributions, e.t.c.
